Happy Tuesday!
Over the weekend there were a bunch of rainstorms that came through L.A. which is very RARE. Having recently relocated to L.A. it has been a surprise to have had so much rain and it's definitely not usual. Cleveland, my hometown, gets a ton of rain, so I'm starting to think this might be more than a coincidence ;) Though it is unusual for the locals here, to me it feels like home.
As storm clouds form overhead...
With storms rolling through and being cooped up inside, I decided to make a Storm themed gif. I am embarrassed to say how long this took me, but I'm happy with the end result. I wanted to make something fun and inspiring that used an interesting blend of colors with some texture. I want to make more gifs, videos and interactive components as I feel that is where web design trends are heading.
This wasn't my original idea, and in an effort to be more transparent in my process and showing my strokes, I will share what I originally made. To be fair, crafting my original idea did take the majority of the time with this project. With my original idea, I wanted to use ink dissipating into water to interact with the type, finally resulting in a clear view of the lettering. You can see the first video I made here:
To me this saying means, having an empowered attitude to be strong enough to take on whatever comes your way. We all weather storms in our lives and like actual storms, the clarity we gain afterward is what helps us move forward and change for the better. So with these pieces I wanted to explore this idea graphically and hopefully give some inspiration as well.
